Gardens are more than plants, paths and trees. Gardens are places where strangers and friends
come together to celebrate, laugh, rest, learn, explore and grow together.
Gardens are created bycommunities for communities.

It will take many hands, old and young alike, to create the Robert W. Monk Gardens.
Be part of something truly unique. Lend your hands, become a Friend of the Robert W. Monk
Gardens and help us create the first public botanical gardens in Northern Wisconsin.
Friends of the Robert W. Monk Gardens is lead by Darla Zastrow, a dedicated, enthusiastic member
of the RWMG. It was Darla’s chance meeting with Mr. Monk at a pond-side picnic table that planted
the seed for what is to become an invaluable addition to our community. Join Darla and other
Friends of the RWMG for an opportunity to be a part of something rather special. Friends gives
you an opportunity to volunteer at the gardens with fund raising events, land improvement
work sessions and educational programs while seeing first-hand how 20 acres is growing
into a marvelous collection of gardens and adventures.
To become a Friend, please contact Darla at 715-261-6282 or dzastrow@uwc.edu.
