The thoughtfully designed Robert W. Monk Gardens will allow visitors to enjoy the grounds from the earliest stages of its creation. As the Gardens grow, so shall the possibilities of learning and enriching the body and mind at the Gardens.

The Robert W. Monk Gardens is especially proud to feature in the first phase of our growth the Enabling Garden, a place where everyone can experience the beauty of the gardens and discover how gardening and an appreciation of nature is accessible to all.

For location orientation, the top of the photo is north. 4th Avenue runs North/South along the left edge of the photo and Campus drive runs East/West along the bottom edge.

The main entrance will be from 4th Avenue. The Visitors Center is the first set of buildings, center-left in the photo.

The garden will be built in three phases and take an estimated 15 years to complete. Phase one, shown in dark print on the map, will include the following:

• Parking Lot
• Entry Garden: Four season garden, bulbs & perennials, flowering trees and shrubs, rain garden, winter color & texture
• Visitor Center Complex: Ticketing, education, events, exhibits
• Event Lawn: area for weddings, receptions, and other large gatherings
• Enabling Garden: containers, raised beds, caregiver grove, water wall, wall garden, arbor, hanging baskets and wheelchair trays
• Fragrance Garden: Rose & Lilac, fragrant flowers & foliage, 40' x 80' tent
• Sound and Texture Garden: Textural foliage, flowers and grasses, quaking aspen glade
• Pine Woods: Tree house structure
• Wildflower Woods: Deciduous trees
• Butterfly Garden: Flowers and plants that attract butterflies
• Open Meadow: Grasses and wildflowers, willow tunnel, mowed patches
• Service Area: Service bays, workshop
